Upon learning that Tom is really Joey, Tom’s wife and daughter feel they no longer know Tom, causing a schism in the family. The sheriff suspects Tom isn’t really Tom; though a friend of Tom’s, he may feel obligated to subject Tom/Joey to the proper legal channels.
