How do you get a book published? Usually, you first get an agent to fall in love with it.
How do you get an agent to read your manuscript? You entice them with a query letter.
Without a brilliant query letter, your book has little chance of making it past the agent’s assistant who screens the incoming submissions. However, it’s quite challenging to write a query letter that encapsulates and sells your book, preferably in fewer than 350 words.
If you’re new to the querying process, our How to Get Published course covers query letters in depth and it’s a great place to start.
If you’re ready for the next step, Query Letter Coaching offers one-on-one guidance from an experienced literary agent. This will help you craft a query that gives your book the best chance of success.
To begin, fill out the form at the bottom of the page, attaching a query letter. Then a Gotham staff member will consult with you to determine your specific needs. Next, you’ll be matched with an agent.
Moving forward, the process works like so:
Evaluation 1 – The assigned agent spends one hour assessing the letter and making notes.
Meeting 1 – You meet for one hour via Zoom with the agent to discuss your query letter.
Evaluation 2 –You submit your revised query letter, which the agent spends 30 minutes assessing.
Meeting 2 – You meet for 30 minutes with the agent to discuss finalizing the letter.
Tuition: $375
